I’ll be hosting a Beginner’s Calligraphy Workshop at the recently refurbished Longridge House, a stunning wedding venue nestled on the outskirts of Longridge.

If you haven’t visited yet, I can’t recommend it enough. The interiors and gardens are absolutely beautiful and the food is incredible. I completely fell in love with the décor and knew it was the perfect setting to host one of my calligraphy workshops.

What to expect in a workshop?

The workshop will begin with a thorough introduction to the tools and materials you’ll be using (and taking home with you), followed by guided exercises designed to help you understand and practise the fundamental movements and shapes of modern calligraphy.

From there, you’ll move on to forming letterforms and building confidence with your strokes. By the end of the session, you’ll feel assured enough to start developing a style that feels uniquely your own.

I keep my calligraphy workshops intentionally small to ensure each guest receives personal, one-to-one guidance. This means you’ll have plenty of support as you confidently immerse yourself in the art of Modern Calligraphy.

During the workshop, you’ll receive:

• A warm introduction to Modern Calligraphy and the foundations of hand lettering

• Modern Calligraphy supplies to take home, including:

  • Nikko G nib

  • Kate Illustrate black ink

  • Universal straight penholder

• A Kate Illustrate Modern Calligraphy Handbook
  (carefully developed and illustrated by me, filled with guidance, examples and tips to help you continue practising at home)

• One-to-one guidance from Kate throughout

• A complimentary drink

• A beautifully handwritten and illustrated final piece to take home

Please note: The ink we use is permanent. Sleeves and wrists are particularly prone to inky smudges, so I’d recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting a little creative in.

*Cancellations/Change of workshop - Please be aware that I need a minimum of 14 days notice if you would like to change to a different workshop or refund your ticket. This allows me time to advertise this space to other people.
